Their commitment to environmental consciousness led them to envision "Carbon Neutral Widgets" – an innovative product aimed at empowering ecommerce platforms with real-time carbon footprint data for fashion and apparel products.
GreenStory faced the challenge of integrating sustainable practices into the retail landscape. The complexities involved creating a widget that seamlessly integrated with diverse ecommerce platforms, offering real-time carbon footprint information for fashion products. Developing a scalable backend platform with elaborate Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) models for various product attributes, while ensuring minimal latency, presented a significant technological hurdle.
Our solution involved crafting the "Carbon Neutral Widgets" - a dynamic tool that seamlessly integrates into ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, CommerceCloud, and Magento. These frontend widgets, written using StencilJS, deliver a highly customizable interface, allowing brands to align the widget with their unique look and feel. The backend comprises dockerized microservices running on NodeJS, hosted on AWS for optimal scalability and performance.
Utilizing elaborate LCA models, the backend calculates the carbon footprint based on diverse attributes, including raw materials, manufacturing processes, and shipping methods. To address latency concerns, we implemented robust caching techniques at various layers, incorporating Cloudfront and Redis for efficient data retrieval.
